ONEIROGEN
ANDREW HOCK (OF CASTEVET)
ST. VITUS, BROOKLYN
TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH, 8PM
Will have some of the new ONEIROGEN LPs for sale at this show.
Preorders have started for “Hypnos” 2xLP, and “Veni Nox Anima” 12″ EP. Limited “Hypnos” on electric blue vinyl and “Veni Nox Anima” on ultraclear. Both releases on 180g vinyl, gatefold layout.
Below are some preview pics of the layouts.
Further down the apocalyptic tunnel initiated on the LP “Hypnos”, these 3 tracks of dark illumination from Oneirogen (aka Mario Diaz de Leon) were composed as a counterpart to the full length. We find again his characteristic synth and noise used to harrowing effect, full of dramatic textural shifts, while bringing the metallic guitar and voice more to the forefront. Like Hypnos, the overall structure evokes a narrative, suggesting a descent into a hallucinogenic abyss, followed by a requiem-like emergence.

12″ EP, gatefold layout on 180g vinyl. Coming soon via Denovali.
BloodMist is the new collaborative trio of composer/performer/multi-instrumentalists Jeremiah Cymerman, Toby Driver and Mario Diaz de Leon. Since the early 2000s each of these three composers have been making bold and important contributions to the fields of contemporary concert music, dark compositional rock, electroacoustic improvisation and beyond. With shared aesthetics rooted in intensity and a tendency for the extreme the trio plans to use their time at Roulette to workshop, rehearse and record their first album, all in preparation for their world debut on the stage of Roulette on July 25th, 2012
A big update, exciting changes. The project initiated with the album “Hypnos” will continue under the name ONEIROGEN. I will continue to compose and release new music for classical ensembles under my given name.
In case some are wondering, it’s pronounced oh-NIGH-ro-gen (NIGH like “night”, GEN like “genesis”).
Oneirogen is honored to join forces with the great people at Denovali Records in Germany. August will see the re-release of “Hypnos” on 2xLP, as well as the new EP “Veni Nox Anima” on 10″ vinyl. A new full length is currently in the works.
Oneirogen will make it’s EU debut at Denovali Swingfest in Essen (Germany) on October 5th.
The MDdL piece “Gated Eclipse”, for sextet and electronics, will receive it’s EU premiere in late October, at the Venice Biennale’s 56th International Festival of Contemporary Music (date/time TBA).
Thanks as always for your support.

Finally, the video for “Oneirogen”. Thanks to my longtime collaborator Jay King for this amazing work.
“Oneirogen”, the first track off “Hypnos” is now streaming on Shinkoyo. The CD is available for pre-order HERE. The release date has been moved up to January 24th. The release show is still January 27th, at The Stone in NYC.

“Hypnos”, the new full length CD on Shinkoyo, will be released January 27th, 2012. This is music for synths, power electronics, and guitars (and often synths that sound like distorted guitars). We’ll have preview tracks up in December.
The release date will coincide with Shinkoyo’s two weeks at The Stone, which I had the privilege of curating. Check out the full schedule here. I will perform solo at a CD release event at 10pm on Friday, January 27th. Seating is limited to 75 people so arrive early! Doron Sadja will play the 8pm set – not to be missed.
The song “Oneirogen” will have a video by longtime collaborator Jay King, to be released in February.
